It was an impressive display where he hit one onto Eutaw Street, another deep to right-center and one out to left. He neglected center field, at least for one night.

Watching Davis last night makes it a little easier to understand the ridiculous power numbers he had last year at Triple-A Round Rock before his trade to Baltimore. Watching Davis last night makes it a little easier to understand the ridiculous power numbers he had last year at Triple-A Round Rock before his trade to Baltimore. I know it is in the Pacific Coast League, where the ball flies, but Davis had amazing homer numbers there last year.

He homered 24 times in 48 games. That produced a slugging percentage of .824 and OPS of 1.229 at Round Rock. Six times, he homered twice or more and he had a three-homer game April 9 versus Iowa.

* His slugging percentage increased from .436 to .462 last night and his OPS jumped from .736 to .766.

* He now has hit 15 homers in 195 at-bats at Camden Yards in 2012 for a home slugging percentage of .528 and OPS of .846. He has homered once every 13.0 at-bats at the Yard. Josh Hamilton, who is second in the American League in home runs this year, has homered once every 13.15 at-bats on the year.

* Davis hit four homers in April, five in May, four in June, five in July and he now has five in August. He homered just once in a 17-game stretch between July 28 and Aug. 17, but he has now hit five homers in his last five games.

* Davis has hit his most homers in the second and fourth innings, with seven each. He homered in both the second and fourth (and sixth) last night.

* Davis hit 14 homers before the All-Star Game and has nine since the break.

* Davis has hit 12 homers with the bases empty and he has 11 with at least one runner on. He has seven two-run shots, three three-run homers and hit a grand slam July 31 against the Yankees. He has 20 homers against right-handed pitching and three versus left-handers.

* When Davis hit his previous career-high of 21 homers in 2009 with Texas, he did that in 391 at-bats, averaging a homer every 18.6 at-bats. This season, he has a new career-high 23 homers over 403 at-bats for one every 17.5 at-bats.
