With a win tonight, Gonzalez would have a victory against every American League East team in his rookie season. According to Elias, the only other Orioles pitcher to beat each team in the division as a rookie was Willis Roberts in 2001.
Wieters hit his career-high 23rd home run last night. His 43 homers over the last two seasons are tied with Atlanta’s Brian McCann for the most in the majors by a catcher.
Over the last two seasons, Hardy leads major league shortstops with 52 home runs and is second with 148 RBIs behind Asdrubal Cabrera’s 159. Hardy’s .991 fielding percentage and 931 assists over the past two seasons are the best among major league shortstops.
