Teagarden is appearing in only his third game this spring. He’s 2-for-6 with two RBIs after striking out today leading off the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Orioles continue to trail the Pirates 4-2 in the seventh.
Rule 5 pick T.J. McFarland tossed two scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out one. Both hits were two-out, seeing-eye singles in the sixth.
Todd Redmond will work the eighth inning.
Update: Redmond gave up a run in the eighth on a two-out single by Matt Curry. The Orioles are down 5-2.
J.J. Hardy made a sensational diving stop up the middle and flipped to second base for the force to end the inning.
Naturally, Hardy led off the bottom of the eighth. Always seems to happen.
Update II: Pirates reliever Ryan Reid struck out the side in the ninth, and the Orioles lost 5-2.
Teagarden struck out again in his second at-bat of the day. Travis Ishikawa and Yamaico Navarro also fanned.
The Orioles are 10-3-1.
