Tampa Bay left-hander David Price is done after six innings and 100 pitches. He served up a two-run homer to Matt Wieters in the first, but that’s all the scoring off him.

Jason Hammel carried a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the sixth, but he walked No. 9 hitter Kelly Johnson to lead off the inning.

Desmond Jennings doubled down the left-field line past a diving Manny Machado to score Johnson. Sam Fuld laid down a sacrifice bunt and Ben Zobrist lifted a sacrifice fly to deep center field.

Rays 3, Orioles 2.

Troy Patton was warming in the Orioles’ bullpen as Hammel began to labor.

Hammel has thrown 75 pitches, 43 for strikes. Patton continues to throw in the bullpen.

Update: The Orioles were 1-for-9 with RISP as Adam Jones fell behind 0-2 to Rays reliever Jake McGee with two on and two outs in the seventh inning.

Jones lined a two-run double to left-center field to give the Orioles a 4-3 lead, and they weren’t done. McGee walked Matt Wieters intentionally and Chris Davis jumped on the next pitch and launched a three-run homer to right field.

Orioles 7, Rays 3.

The 3-4-5 hitters in the order have six hits, seven RBIs and five runs scored.

Mighty nice of the Rays to take Price off the hook for the win.

Hammel is looking for his first win at Tropicana Field. He’s 0-5 lifetime.

Update II: The Rays scored once in the eighth off Darren O’Day after a one-out single by Desmond Jennings, a stolen base, a throwing error by Wieters and Fuld’s ground ball.

Just a minor glitch.

Jim Johnson took care of business in the ninth, rebounding after a leadoff single by Evan Longoria to record the save in the Orioles’ 7-4 victory over the Rays.

Johnson didn’t allow an earned run against the Rays in 9 2/3 innings last season. He struck out Ryan Roberts today after Longoria’s single and got Yunel Escobar to ground into a double play.

Hammel is now 1-5 in 32 games at Tropicana Field.
