According to a press release from Major League Baseball, McCutchen tested positive for performance-enhancing substances Methenolone and a metabolite of Trenbolone. His suspension is effective immediately.

According to a press release from Major League Baseball, McCutchen tested positive for performance-enhancing substances Methenolone and a metabolite of Trenbolone. His suspension is effective immediately.

McCutchen, who is currently on the roster of Triple-A Norfolk, allowed five runs and 13 hits in 7 1/3 innings this spring. His results improved once the Orioles talked him into throwing with a sidearm delivery.

McCutchen appeared in one game with the Tides this week, allowing four runs and three hits in 1 2/3 innings. He pitched once for the Pittsburgh Pirates last summer and is 8-11 with a 4.77 ERA in 108 major league games. He’s 51-32 with a 3.25 ERA in 136 minor league games.

The Orioles signed McCutchen to a minor league deal on Nov. 12.

Two months ago, Hedo TürkoÄŸlu of the NBA’s Orlando Magic was suspended 20 games without pay by the league after testing positive for Methenolone.
