Coby Mayo is starting at first base tonight for the first time this season, as the Orioles break out a right-handed lineup against Kansas City lefty Kris Bubic.
Mayo has made 15 starts at third base. He pinch-ran for Pete Alonso last night and played first for an inning.
Alonso is the designated hitter tonight.
Blaze Alexander is starting in right field for the first time in his career. He moved from third base to right field last night in the eighth inning, the only time he played the position at any level.
Jeremiah Jackson moves up to fifth in the order. Weston Wilson is playing third base.
Leody Taveras remains in center field. His grand slam last night in the 12th was the first by an Oriole in extra innings since Pedro Álvarez in the 14th inning on April 6, 2018 at Yankee Stadium.
The five runs in the 12th were the most scored that inning or later since June 25, 1970 in Boston, when the Orioles tallied six in the 14th.
The Orioles have drawn at least four walks in 11 of the last 13 games. Their 96 walks in the first 23 games are their most since 2004.
The bullpen ranks third in the American League with a 3.40 ERA.
The last 21 Orioles road games against the Royals have been decided by at least two runs, the longest active streak by any team, per STATS.
