Bryce Harper went 6 for 7 with 5 RBI and 3 runs scored Friday, becoming only the second Coyotes player ever to hit for the cycle, as the College of Southern Nevada trounced host Lamar Community College 22-8 in the semifinals of the NJCAA Western District Tournament in Lamar, Colorado.
The Coyotes scored 18 of their 22 runs in the final two frames to blow open a close game. The contest called after 8 innings due to the 10-run mercy rule. CSN (49-13) faces the winner of the Central Arizona vs. Lamar (48-11) tomorrow afternoon for the championship.
Harper has been ranked by several publications as the #1 first year player available with the amateur draft June 7. The Nationals have the number one overall selection for the second year in a row.
Harper has now hit 25 homers in 60 games played. The 25 homers is a school record.
