According to this tweet from the Associated Press’ Dionisio Soldevila, Simon is accused of murder in his native Dominican Republic.

I’m told that a few of his teammates are aware of the story and are “in shock.”

I’ll obviously have more to report later.

Simon is the primary suspect in a shooting that killed 25-year-old Michel Castillo Almonte and wounded his 17-year-old brother during a New Year’s Eve celebration in the northeast coastal town of Luperon, according to a police statement.

The Orioles aren’t likely to comment until receiving more information.
