masn-baseballs-orioles.jpgThe Orioles released two more players today from their minor league camp. The club cut right-hander Clay Schrader and left-hander Trent Howard.

Both pitchers were drafted among the top 10 rounds and both have had some good numbers during their time with the Orioles.

The 23-year-old Schrader was selected in the 10th round in 2010 out of San Jacinto (Texas) Junior College. Last season with Double-A Bowie, he went 5-4 with a 4.34 ERA in 35 bullpen appearances. The 23-year-old Schrader was selected in the 10th round in 2010 out of San Jacinto (Texas) Junior College. Last season with Double-A Bowie, he went 5-4 with a 4.34 ERA in 35 bullpen appearances. Over 56 innings, Schrader allowed 50 hits with 35 walks and 62 strikeouts.

In four seasons in the organization, the last two at Bowie, he was 10-8 with a 2.62 ERA. Over 172 career innings he allowed just 112 hits for a .184 average against. The hard throwing Schrader was inconsistent with control and walked 124 with 219 career strikeouts as an Oriole.

The 24-year-old Howard was selected in the seventh round in 2011 out of Central Michigan. In 2013, he pitched for Single-A Frederick and went 3-2 with a 3.48 ERA in 28 games, 15 starts. Over 88 innings, he allowed 87 hits with 25 walks and 72 strikeouts. In one game with Double-A Bowie, he allowed four runs over four innings.

In three seasons with the organization, Howard went 12-15 with a 3.95 ERA with 73 walks and 204 strikeouts over 257 1/3 innings.

The Orioles have now released a total of 20 players since spring training began.
