The Orioles examined Markakis this morning to make sure there was nothing structurally wrong.
“We checked him out and it’s just a spasm type of thing,” Showalter said, adding that Markakis probably wouldn’t have played if this were a regular season game. It’s not just a spring training precaution.
The Orioles are off Monday and they travel to Dunedin on Tuesday, giving Markakis additional time to recover. Don’t look for him in the lineup before Wednesday’s game against Team Spain.
