On Saturday, May 1st, MASN will help to support the annual Campaign for the Mind of America NAMI Walk at Druid Hill Park in Baltimore. Throughout the week, MASN will promote NAMI both on-air and online to educate viewers about health and wellness.
Ranked by Worth magazine as one of the “top 100 charities most likely to change the world,” NAMI is the nation’s leading voice on mental illness. Saturday’s walk will raise money and awareness about the need to build a world-class treatment and recovery system for children and adults with mental illness. NAMI provides support to persons with serious brain disorders and to their families through education, advocacy and research. The organization also fights for nondiscriminatory and equitable policies in public and private sectors.
“The stigma about mental illness has been lifted in recent years in large part because of the good work of NAMI,” said MASN spokesman Todd Webster. “As a regional sports network, MASN is committed to raising awareness about a range of health and wellness issues and to partnering with organizations like NAMI who help to improve the quality of life in our region.”
MASN is the television home of the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals. The network carries over 600 live sporting events every year including more than 275 NCAA Division I football, basketball, and lacrosse games. MASN is currently carried on 23 cable and satellite providers throughout a seven-state region.
