The Orioles kept their number for Wild Card race elimination at two last night with a come-from-behind win, and the weather is protecting them tonight.

A forecast of steady rain has forced the postponement of their game against the Blue Jays at Camden Yards. The teams will play a split-admission doubleheader on Wednesday at 1:35 p.m. and 6:35 p.m.

Separate tickets are required to attend each game.

Gates for Game 1 will open at 12:30 p.m. and gates for Game 2 will open at 5:30 p.m. There will be no early access to Eutaw Street to watch batting practice.

Fans that prefer to exchange tickets for the nightcap may do so until 12:35 p.m. The club also says fans can expect to receive communication regarding a complimentary field level ticket offer for an early season game next season.

Chris Bassitt was the scheduled starter tonight against future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer, with Wednesday listed as TBD for both teams.

This is the Orioles’ fourth postponement and subsequent doubleheader of the season. They split with the Astros on April 30 and Tigers on May 24 in Baltimore and the Red Sox on July 22 in Boston.

The regular season has been reduced to five games, including a weekend series at Yankee Stadium. The Orioles are 4 ½ back for the last Wild Card, and their FanGraphs playoff odds have dwindled to 0.2 percent.

Pete Alonso hit his 39th and 40th home runs last night, the latter a two-run shot in the eighth inning that produced a 4-3 victory. The White Sox were idle, and a loss would have left the Orioles one game from elimination.

As it now stands, the margin can shrink to one tonight if the White Sox win in Kansas City. If the number stays at two, the Orioles are bounced Wednesday at the earliest with a combination of a loss and Chicago victory.

The Astros are three back and the Blue Jays are 3 ½.

The Orioles haven’t lost a home series against Toronto since 2022, claiming four and tying three. They went 2-2 in a four-game series in late May.

*Ty Holub, a Baltimore native who worked as a regional scout in the Mariners organization, is joining the Orioles as a senior analyst in domestic scouting.

Holub signed pitcher George Kirby, a first-round pick in 2019, No. 6 prospect Jonny Farmelo and No. 7 prospect Luke Stevenson.
