NEW YORK – The Orioles will try again tonight to make it through nine uninterrupted innings as they begin their series against the Yankees.
Start on time and pray for drier weather.
Renato Núñez is batting fourth as the designated hitter while stuck in slumps that stretch to 1-for-31 and 4-for-52. He hasn’t drawn a walk since April 23.
Tonight brings a favorable matchup on paper. More on that later.

Joey Rickard is batting fifth against Yankees left-hander J.A. Happ and Chris Davis moves down to seventh. Richie Martin is the shortstop.
Andrew Cashner has allowed two runs or fewer in three of his last four starts. He held the Red Sox to one run over six innings in his last outing.
Cashner faced the Yankees on opening day and allowed six runs and six hits with four walks in four innings. Luke Voit hit a three-run homer in the first.
In eight career starts against the Yankees, Cashner has gone 2-4 with a 4.01 ERA and 1.257 WHIP in 49 1/3 innings. He’s allowed seven runs and eight hits in two starts in the Bronx over 10 innings.
Aaron Hicks is 6-for-13 with two doubles against Cashner. DJ LeMahieu is 6-for-19 with a double and Gleyber Torres is 4-for-7 with a double.
Giancarlo Stanton and Troy Tulowitzki are 3-for-20, but they’re also on the injured list.
Happ tossed seven scoreless innings against the Giants on April 27 and five scoreless with only one hit allowed against the Mariners on Thursday. His first two starts this season came against the Orioles and he surrendered a combined six runs and 10 hits over 8 1/3 innings while going 0-1.
Trey Mancini homered twice off Happ and Núñez took him deep on March 31.
Happ is 7-7 with a 3.21 ERA and 1.208 WHIP in 22 career games (21 starts) against the Orioles. Núñez is 6-for-13 (.462) with a double and two home runs. Mancini is 7-for-23 (.304) with a double and two home runs.
Davis is 4-for-27 (.148) with two doubles, two home runs and 12 strikeouts.
Neither team is listing its starters for Wednesday’s doubleheader.
