Hess pitched on opening day at Yankee Stadium and turned in two scoreless innings in relief. Miguel Andújar is 3-for-3 against Hess lifetime, but he’s on the injured list.

Domingo Germán held the Tigers to an unearned run and one hit Monday and struck out seven batters in five innings, but he also walked five. He’s faced the Orioles twice in relief and allowed three runs in 5 1/3 innings.

Anthony Santander homered off Germán, but he’s at Triple-A Norfolk. Jesús Sucre is 2-for-2 with a double.
