As a result of the change, which will be effective on April 5, David Stockstill has been named Director of International Operations. In his new role, David will oversee all the club’s international operations, including scouting in the Far East, Latin America and beyond. He will also oversee player development in the Dominican Republic.
John Stockstill is the club’s new Director of Player Development and will oversee all aspects of the Orioles’ player development system.
“Both David and John are valued members of our staff, and we feel this change strengthens our overall operations,” said ANDY MacPHAIL, Orioles President of Baseball Operations. “David and John’s new roles are a good fit geographically and are a reflection of their interests, skills and experience.”
John Stockstill, a resident of White Hall, Maryland, is in his fifth year with the Orioles, initially joining the club in December 2005 to oversee the club’s major league and professional scouting. Prior to joining the Orioles, he had spent his entire professional baseball career – as a minor league player, scout and front office executive – with the Chicago Cubs. David Stockstill, a resident of Hurley, Missouri, has been a member of the Orioles’ minor league staff for the last 16 years. He has also served as a roving hitting instructor, manager, field coordinator and hitting coordinator in the Baltimore minor league system.
