The club announced today that Wright has been traded to the Mariners for infielder Ryne Ogren, who is headed to low Single-A Delmarva.

Mike Wright won’t be staying in the Orioles organization.

The club announced today that Wright has been traded to the Mariners for infielder Ryne Ogren, who is headed to low Single-A Delmarva.

He also was out of minor league options, which led to the Orioles removing him from the 40-man roster.

Wright has gone 10-12 with a 5.95 ERA and 1.545 WHIP in 101 games, including 23 starts, since breaking into the majors in 2015. He competed for a spot in the rotation in spring training, registering a 3.32 ERA and 1.431 WHIP in 21 2/3 innings.

Ogren, 22, was selected by the Mariners in the 12th round last year out of Elon University in North Carolina. He’s played shortstop, second base and third base as a professional.

The offensive numbers haven’t impressed this year.

Ogren is 6-for41 this year with Single-A West Virginia – which also plays in the South Atlantic League – including one double and one home run. He made his professional debut last summer with short-season Single-A Everett and slashed .250/.344/.356 with nine doubles, a triple, three home runs and 31 RBIs in 55 games.

A native of Devon, Pa., Ogren was a first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection in his last two seasons at Elon before the Mariners drafted him. He led the team as a junior with a .338 batting average, 17 doubles and 53 RBIs.

Ogren posted a .328 average in his three years at Elon.
