Maikel Franco returns to the lineup today for his second game after signing a one-year contract. The next attempt to ramp up before opening day.
César Valdez makes his first start as an Oriole. Manager Brandon Hyde describes today as “a bullpen game,” with a reliever taking the mound first and others to follow.
The game airs on MASN and 105.7 The Fan.
The Rays are starting right-hander Trevor Richards, who’s pitched twice in relief this spring and allowed four runs and five hits with five strikeouts in three innings.
Richards pitched at Camden Yards on the night of Bruce Zimmermann’s major league debut. He started in Game 2 of the doubleheader and allowed four runs and five hits in 3 1/3 innings.
Rio Ruiz and Hanser Alberto homered off him and Ryan Mountcastle had an RBI double.
Dean Kremer starts Wednesday night in Fort Myers. The Red Sox are starting Nathan Eovaldi.
