Orioles recall McFarland, Sisco chosen to U.S. team

SAN DIEGO – The Orioles made their anticipated roster move this afternoon, recalling left-hander T.J. McFarland from Triple-A Norfolk.
McFarland replaces left-hander Ashur Tolliver, who was optioned to Norfolk following Sunday’s game. Tolliver will be going on paternity leave with his wife due on July 7 and the Orioles didn’t want him traveling to the West Coast.
McFarland became eligible today after staying down for the minimum 10 days. Being used Saturday as the 26th player didn’t count…

The bullpen now has two left-handers including closer Zach Britton.

McFarland, 27, went 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA in five games (four starts) with Norfolk, allowing seven earned runs over 21 innings. In 14 games with the Orioles, he’s gone 2-2 with a 4.70 ERA over 23 innings.
The Orioles decided to keep right-hander Vance Worley on his injury rehab assignment and he’s scheduled to pitch tonight for Single-A Frederick.
Also, Double-A Bowie catcher Chance Sisco has been chosen to the U.S. roster for the All-Star Futures Game in San Diego.
The game, to be played on July 10 at 7 p.m., features players on the U.S. and World teams and includes 15 former first-round picks.
Sisco, 21, is batting .309/.401/.382 with 16 doubles and 23 RBIs in 62 games with Bowie. The Orioles selected him in the second round of the 2013 draft.
