The Orioles are selecting the contract of infielder Paul Janish from Triple-A Norfolk before Game 1 of today’s doubleheader.
The lineup hasn’t been posted, but Janish is starting at shortstop. He flew into Baltimore from Houston following the birth of his daughter.
A pitcher will be optioned to make room for Janish, but he will remain with the team as the 26th man for the nightcap. The pitcher will be sent down after the game.
Manny Machado will start at shortstop in Game 2.
