“It’s more from lifting weights than it is anything else – throwing or swinging a bat,” manager Dave Trembley said.
Nolan Reimold is serving as the designated hitter in today’s B-squad game in Sarasota. He’s also doing some extra work with hitting coach Terry Crowley.
“I wanted him to stay back and get a session with Crow today,” Trembley said. “I wanted him to work with Crow on his hitting, then I wanted him to get a couple at-bats there in that game. I’ve got him scheduled to go to Fort Myers on Monday and play left field.
“He hasn’t had as many at-bats as everybody else. We’ve been guarded with him because of the heel. He’s had some soreness. He ran better the other day. We have a lot of time to catch him up, but I’m not to the point yet where I’m going to start pushing him. I’m not going to do that. But it’s nothing that he’s doing that’s wrong or I don’t like. I just think he needs more time. He can benefit from the time with Crow. And I’ve only got nine slots. I can only put nine guys in the lineup.”
Robert Andino would have played a few innings at third base yesterday if the game hadn’t been rained out.
“It’s the time in camp to start moving some guys around,” Trembley said.
