With yesterday's news that the Orioles have agreed to a new contract with Delmon Young, let's take one moment for a quick baseball thought today. Let's take a look at a possible opening day lineup with the current roster.
I think this may be the year Manny Machado gets dropped down in the order into more of a run-producing spot, so I'll put him sixth right now. My lineup is also heavily right-handed and of the members of the current roster, Ryan Flaherty or David Lough could be inserted as another lefty bat.
LF Alejandro De Aza
RF Steve Pearce
1B Chris Davis
CF Adam Jones
C Matt Wieters
3B Manny Machado
SS J.J. Hardy
DH Delmon Young
2B Jonathan Schoop
I'll guess this will not be the exact lineup that takes the field April 6 against Tampa Bay and that we will see some additions.
But for now, that lineup looks solid to me.
