The Orioles today announced that they have acquired infielder/outfielder BLAZE ALEXANDER from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for right-handed pitcher KADE STROWD, minor league right-handed pitcher WELLINGTON ARACENA, and minor league infielder JOS? MEJ?A.
Alexander, 26, appeared in 74 games for the Diamondbacks last season, batting .230/.323/.383 (53-for-230) with 12 doubles, one triple, seven home runs, 31 runs scored, and 28 RBI. He made most of his appearances at third base, but also saw action at second base, left field, and center field, as well as designated hitter. His season was delayed by a right oblique strain suffered in Spring Training. He appeared in eight rehab games with Triple-A Reno before he was reinstated from the 10-day Injured List and optioned to the Aces, where he remained until June 25 when he was recalled by Arizona for the remainder of the year. Alexander slashed .284/.413/.479 (55-for-194) with 12 doubles, one triple, eight home runs, 41 runs scored, and 41 RBI with Reno, ranking fourth in the Pacific Coast League in on-base percentage until his recall. The Cape Coral, Fla. native was originally selected by the Diamondbacks in the 11th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of IMG Academy (FL).
Strowd, 28, made his major league debut last season and posted a 1.71 ERA (5 ER/26.1 IP) in 25 appearances with the Orioles. Baltimore selected him in the 12th round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft out of West Virginia University.
Aracena, 21, was acquired by the Orioles along with right-hander Cameron Foster from the New York Mets in exchange for left-handed pitcher Gregory Soto on July 25, 2025. Between three teams last season, he went 2-2 with a 2.25 ERA (23 ER/92.0 IP), 49 hits allowed and 51 walks with 114 strikeouts in 23 appearances (14 GS). The righty was ranked the 23rd-best Orioles prospect entering 2026 by Baseball America.
Mej?a, 20, batted .271/.418/.403 (35-for-129) in 49 games last season, mostly with the FCL Orioles. He was originally signed by Baltimore as part of the 2023 International Signing Class out of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
