CAA Baseball
has tweeted that reliever
David Riske agreed to a minor league deal with the
Orioles that includes an invitation to spring training.
Riske appeared in 23 games with the
Brewers last season, compiling a 5.01 ERA before being released in August. He already got his Tommy John surgery out of the way in 2009.
Riske is 20-20 with a 3.67 ERA in 11 seasons with the
Indians,
Red Sox,
White Sox,
Royals and Brewers.
Riske, 34, is probably ticketed for Triple-A Norfolk unless there's an injury. It's getting pretty crowded in the Orioles' bullpen, which could include right-handers
Kevin Gregg,
Koji Uehara,
Jim Johnson,
Jeremy Accardo and
Jason Berken. And don't forget Rule 5 pick
Adrian Rosario (as I've done a few times.) But competition is a good thing.
