Scott secures win in Second Annual Orioles Cook-Off

Scott secures win in Second Annual Orioles Cook-Off
At last year's First Annual Orioles Cook-Off, it was obvious that Gregg Zaun was in it to win it. This year, that Oriole was Luke Scott. And his quiet intensity paid off, as Scott was eventually awarded the title of Best Chef in Birdland at the conclusion of the Second Annual Orioles Cook-Off, held this afternoon at the ESPN Zone in Baltimore. Luke Scott's surf and turf, featuring filet mignon and salmon topped with scallops and cream sauce beat out Kevin Millwood's chicken enchiladas...

Do we have a rivalry yet?

Do we have a rivalry yet?
With this weekend's series at Nationals Park, the O's and Nats will kick off the interleague portions of their 2010 schedules. Since the first interleague game on June 12, 1997, we've watched 13 seasons of mixed play. After five seasons during which each division played against its same division from the opposing league (the AL East met the NL East in the first years of interleague play), the current format was later adopted in 2002. Today, we watch the O's face teams from various...

O's fans migrate to Matt Wieters Q&A

O's fans migrate to Matt Wieters Q&A
The lines of O's fans waiting in the spitting rain to meet Matt Wieters stretched around the building. One ESPN Zone employee even told me that anticipating the enormous crowd, she arrived at 6:45 a.m. - only to find that one Orioles fan beat her there. It was by far the most crowded ESPN Zone Orioles Q&A in the last few years, and extra tables accommodated the packed house to within arm's reach of young Oriole. You wouldn't have guessed it to look at Wieters, however. The same ease we...

Mother's Day with the O's

Mother's Day with the O's
In the past, when the O's were at home at Camden Yards on Mother's Day, there's typically been some sort of giveaway as you enter the ballpark. From picture frames to pink hats, moms are somehow acknowledged at the ballpark for their work, love and dedication throughout the year. This year, the O's will be in Minnesota on mom's special day, and the Twins earrings they're giving out at Target Field won't do an Orioles fan much good. But, you can still appreciate the pink bats and sweat...

First Q&A a success w/Atkins - Wieters up next

First Q&A a success w/Atkins - Wieters up next
Today's Garrett Atkins Q&A provided a first look preview of a summer of O's events to come. Atkins arrived at the ESPN Zone shortly before noon and sat down center stage with the event's host, MASN O's broadcaster Jim Hunter. "So Roch Kubatko tells me you're the most talkative guy in the clubhouse, and you're going to make my job easy for me today," Jim joked to start off the afternoon. Atkins admitted that Roch might have been exaggerating a bit, but the first-baseman seemed...

Last minute reminders
I'm headed to the ESPN Zone in Baltimore's Inner Harbor before too long for the first Orioles Q&A of the summer. If you can't make it out to meet Garrett Atkins from noon to 1:00 p.m., check back here later today for a few highlights and photos. Atkins will be answering questions from an O's broadcaster, as well as from fans, so this afternoon will be a chance to get to know the new Oriole a little better (and win some prizes if you know your Orioles trivia!). Atkins will also stick around...
