SARASOTA, Fla. – Did Orioles second baseman Brian Roberts have fun today?
“Every day’s a fun day on the field,” Roberts replied with a smile.
Roberts is just happy to be playing again, and going 3-for-3 with a home run today simply added to his joy.
“It’s been too many days in the training room. Baseball’s fun when you can get out there and play. It’s definitely been good so far.”

Roberts is just happy to be playing again, and going 3-for-3 with a home run today simply added to his joy.
“It’s been too many days in the training room. Baseball’s fun when you can get out there and play. It’s definitely been good so far.”
Roberts homered to right field leading off the bottom of the first inning. He singled to left in the second and fifth innings.
“That’s a positive sign for most guys, but definitely for me,” he said. “I’ve always been the guy who could hurt somebody in, but also taking my hits the other way. That was kind of a prime example for me today.”
Roberts hadn’t homered since April 13, 2011.
“I think everything from my standpoint right now is confidence builders, to know that your bat speed is still there, that you can still do things you used to be able to do when you haven’t played in a little while,” he said.
“It’s not necessarily all result-driven by any means, but it’s certainly being able to square balls up consistently and drive balls. And I think so far that’s been a positive.”
