The Orioles went back to three catchers tonight.

Chadwick Tromp had his contract selected from Triple-A Norfolk about 30 minutes before first pitch in Anaheim. Outfielder Michael Siani was designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.

Tromp, 31, came back to the organization on June 10 after signing a minor league contract. He was one of a franchise-record seven catchers used by the club in 2025, appearing in six games and going 3-for-16 with a double and home run.

Tromp, who’s wearing No. 41, played in 12 games with the Braves this season and went 5-for-25 before they designated him for assignment.

The Orioles brought back Tromp while Adley Rutschman was dealing with left hamstring tightness. Samuel Basallo had his own health issues, exiting a game with left wrist soreness that later was explained as a bony growth.

Tromp is a depth move now with Rutschman on the seven-day concussion injured list. Sam Huff is behind the plate tonight after Basallo caught the last four games.

Siani made his only appearance with the Orioles yesterday in Los Angeles as a late defensive replacement in center field. He grounded out in the ninth inning.

*Right-hander Luis Sánchez underwent right knee meniscus repair surgery with Dr. Daniel Lamar in Bradenton, Fla.

Sánchez, 23, hasn’t pitched since 2024. He was assigned to High-A Frederick.

*Right-hander Carlos Tavera underwent right elbow ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction surgery with Dr. Keith Meister in Arlington, Texas.

Tavera, 27, made 10 relief appearances with Double-A Chesapeake and posted a 5.93 ERA in 13 2/3 innings. He has a 4.88 ERA in six minor league seasons since the Orioles chose him in the fifth round of the 2021 draft.
