Pitching coach Rick Adair has agreed to a new deal, leaving hitting coach Jim Presley and third base coach DeMarlo Hale as the only members of manager Buck Showalter’s staff without contracts.

Presley and Hale have been offered new contracts, and the Orioles are waiting to hear back from them. They’re expected to remain in the organization, though I’ve heard that Presley has attracted interest from another club.

Hale interviewed for the Boston Red Sox’s managerial job that went to former Toronto Blue Jays skipper John Farrell. Hale hasn’t been contacted by the Blue Jays.

Adair completed his second season as pitching coach after replacing Mark Connor on June 14, 2011. He originally was hired as bullpen coach before changing roles.

The Orioles’ 3.40 ERA ranked 14th in the majors this season. The bullpen’s 3.00 ERA ranked fifth.

Also, Lee MacPhail IV has accepted a professional scouting job with the Seattle Mariners. The Orioles moved him to the amateur side last winter.

“It was just too good of an offer to pass up,” MacPhail said. “Obviously, I liked what I was doing here and am very much appreciative of the Angelos family and the opportunity they gave me here, but when you have this kind of a transition, sometimes it’s best to move out of the way to allow them to have the freedom to bring in who they like. And just having the opportunity to work with (Mariners pro director) Tom Allison, a longtime friend, is too good to pass up.”
