Catcher Adley Rutschman has slipped from third to fourth place in American League All-Star balloting, with the latest update arriving this afternoon.
Rutschman has received 434,433 votes to put him behind Shea Langeliers (1,414,697), Alejandro Kirk (837,289) and Dillon Dingler (484,290), who moved past the Orioles’ backstop.
Rutschman is on the seven-day concussion injured list retroactive to Friday, and his return date is uncertain.
First baseman Pete Alonso (380,136) and designated hitter Samuel Basallo (211,232) are in fifth place in their respective categories. Shortstop Gunnar Henderson (270,985) is sixth, second baseman Jeremiah Jackson (169,258) is ninth and outfielder Taylor Ward (238,665) remains 17th.
Phase 1 of voting will be accessible until noon Thursday. Phase 2 begins next Monday at noon and concludes on July 2.
Blue Jays second baseman Ernie Clement surpassed Astros designated hitter Yordan Álvarez as the leading vote-getter in the American League with 2,054,130. Álvarez has received 1,974,459.
Every team must have at least one All-Star.
Aaron Judge (1,788,499), Mike Trout (1,735,051) and Byron Buxton (1,106,264) are the three leaders among AL outfielders. Judge and Trout currently are on the injured list.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is first among first basemen with 1,458,461 votes, Bobby Witt Jr. is first among shortstops with 1,701,407 and Junior Caminero is the leading third baseman with 1,310,879.
Third baseman Coby Mayo isn’t in the top 10 among third basemen, and Dylan Beavers and Leody Taveras aren’t in the top 20 among outfielders.
All-Star starters and the rosters will be announced on July 4 at 7:30 p.m. on FOX. The 96th Midsummer Classic will be played July 14 in Philadelphia.
