The Orioles began yet another crucial series last night with a 7-4 win over the Blue Jays, keyed by a five-run second inning.

This team suddenly loves scoring in bunches.

The Guardians rallied for three runs in the ninth to defeat the Twins 5-2 and stay three games ahead of the Orioles for the last Wild Card.

Coby Mayo has four home runs in his last four games, and the last three are against right-handers. He’s the cleanup hitter again today.

Carlos Narváez is catching instead of Samuel Basallo. Heston Kjerstad is in right field.

Dylan Beavers, who hit a leadoff home run last night, is batting .319 when ahead in the count this season and .185 when behind. He’s atop the order again today.

Kyle Bradish hasn’t gone more than five innings in his last three starts. He’s allowed nine earned runs and 12 total with 17 hits and eight walks in 13 1/3 innings.

Bradish allowed an unearned run against the Blue Jays in seven innings on May 31 in Baltimore. He faced them again in his next start and allowed five runs and nine hits in four innings in Toronto. He owns a 6.93 ERA and 1.784 WHIP in five starts at Rogers Centre.

George Springer is 8-for-20 with five doubles and a home run against Bradish. Alejandro Kirk is 5-for-10 with a double. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is 6-for-24 with a homer.

Blue Jays rookie right-hander Spencer Miles has registered a 2.77 ERA and 1.049 WHIP in 45 appearances, including six starts. He’s surrendered only five home runs in 87 2/3 innings.

The Jays are going with a bullpen game. Miles hasn’t thrown more than two innings since July 22, a span of 17 appearances.

Right-handers are hitting .179 with a .428 OPS. Left-handers are hitting .249 with a .673 OPS.

Miles has allowed eight runs and seven hits in 7 1/3 innings in two games against the Orioles. He started on May 31 at Camden Yards and allowed six runs in three innings.
