Pitcher Branden Kline's return from Tommy John surgery and multiple setbacks has taken him all the way to the Orioles' 40-man roster, with the possibility of further advancement in the coming months. It's been quite a journey. Kline, a Frederick native and second-round pick in the 2012 draft out of the University of Virginia, missed almost three full seasons before making a major breakthrough in the minors. He posted a 1.64 ERA with 17 saves in 65 2/3 innings while splitting the summer...

The Orioles announced their latest international signing this afternoon, 16-year-old outfielder J'Rudjeanon Isenia out of Curaçao. The agreement on a $125,000 bonus was reported back in late August, but now it's official. The club provided the following statement from director of player development Brian Graham, who's handling the day-to-day duties in baseball operations on an interim basis: "Isenia is a right-handed-hitting outfielder with above average tools and a good swing. He is a...

The World Series is over, and the countdown to spring training has begun. As we enter the void, remember two things: The Nationals' facility in West Palm Beach will start getting busy in just three and a half months, and MASN is here to fill the baseball vacuum. The first two entries in this week's "Nationals Classics" lineup take us back to the cavernous confines of the Nats' first home on East Capitol Street, and you'll see some faces that will jog your memory, including a young Ryan...

Well, the World Series is over and a former Oriole was named the Most Valuable Player in the Red Sox's victory over the Dodgers in the Fall Classic. If you picked Steve Pearce as the MVP, I want you to start selecting my Mega Millions numbers. Deal? While Pearce doesn't make an appearance on this week's slate of "Orioles Classics" on MASN, we do have a bunch of heroes for your viewing pleasure. Some of them are footnotes in O's history, others carved significant careers in black and...
2018 season recap: For Dylan Bundy, it turned south around midseason

Orioles
As June came to an end, Orioles right-hander Dylan Bundy had a 6-7 record and an ERA of 3.75. In June, Bundy went 3-0 with a 1.98 ERA in four starts. He was well on his way to a solid 2018 season, but it didn't end up that way. Not even close. Completing his third straight year as a key member of the pitching staff and second straight in the rotation, Bundy went 8-16 with a 5.45 ERA in 31 starts. While he set career highs for starts, innings, strikeouts and strikeout rate, he also had the...

The end of the World Series opened the gates yesterday to free agency and Orioles outfielder Adam Jones is included among the 145 players initially on the market. Outfielder Colby Rasmus also is listed with the Orioles, but it's a technicality. Rasmus left the team on July 3 and was placed on the restricted list, removing him from the 40-man roster. Rasmus made the same move the previous year while playing for the Rays and it's doubtful that he'll take another crack at landing a major league...

Not that there was ever any doubt they would, but the Nationals today formally announced they have picked up Sean Doolittle's $6 million option, guaranteeing their All-Star closer will return in 2019. With the World Series now complete, baseball's offseason began this morning, with 145 major leaguers officially becoming free agents. That list includes eight Nationals players: Bryce Harper, Matt Wieters, Mark Reynolds, Greg Holland, Kelvin Herrera, Jeremy Hellickson, Tim Collins and Joaquin...

Left-hander Ben Braymer and shortstop/second baseman Carter Kieboom have been named to the East Division squad for the Arizona Fall League's Fall Stars Game on Saturday at Surprise Stadium. Braymer and Kieboom represent the Nationals for the Salt River Rafters, who begin play Monday at 9-7 in first place in the East Division. Hitting coach Luis Ordaz will continue those duties with the East Division team. Braymer, 24, is 1-0 with a 7.50 ERA, but has allowed only one earned run in four of his...

Prepare yourself: The baseball offseason is here, and that means a never-ending stream of speculation about trades and free agent signings. John Schuerholz, former general manager of the Atlanta Braves, used to accuse reporters of blowing even the tiniest tidbit of conversation out of proportion. "Reporters take a kernel of popcorn and turn it into a large bag immediately," he said. In case you haven't heard, Bryce Harper and Manny Machado are the two biggest names on the free agent market....

A .378 average and 1.149 OPS apparently aren't deemed worthy of inclusion in the upcoming Arizona Fall League's 13th annual Fall Stars Game unless a fan vote rectifies the situation. Double-A Bowie outfielder Ryan McKenna is conspicuously absent from the West Division roster, which has been released this afternoon. No one in the Orioles organization is represented. McKenna has crafted a .378/.500/.649 slash line in 10 games with the Glendale Desert Dogs. He's collected four doubles and three...
