ATLANTA - The Orioles will decide Monday whether to activate third baseman Tim Beckham from the 60-day disabled list. They seem to be leaning in that direction.
Beckham remains with Triple-A Norfolk on his injury rehab assignment. He's 2-for-15 with the Tides after going 1-for-8 with Double-A Bowie since recovering from core muscle surgery.
The Orioles haven't been able to put Beckham in their lineup since April 23. He's appeared in 23 games with a .179/.247/.262 slash line.
"I'm not sure....
ATLANTA - Mark Trumbo is out of the Orioles' lineup today due to some soreness in his knee, but he's expected to play Monday night against the Mariners at Camden Yards.
Trey Mancini is back in the lineup, no longer bothered by neck stiffness.
Colby Rasmus is in right field and leading off. Danny Valencia is in the cleanup spot.
Rookie Austin Wynns is behind the plate.
Prior to Trumbo's grand slam yesterday, the last time that the first three Orioles in a game reached base before a home run...
The Orioles have posted 10-7 and 7-5 wins in Atlanta, and if they get one more win at SunTrust Park today, it will represent a first for this season. While the Orioles have been swept eight times this year in series at of three or four games, they have no such sweeps themselves. But they can get one this afternoon with another victory.
In the first two games of this series the Orioles have 17 runs on 22 hits and have gone 10-for-21 (.476) with runners in scoring position. That was a big change...
ATLANTA - The Orioles have finally won a road series outside of New York, but why stop there?
They can earn their first three-game series sweep in 2018 if they defeat the Braves this afternoon to conclude the road trip. No one is suggesting that an entire season is turning around and they're on the verge of becoming buyers instead of sellers. But, hey, it really is true that winning is more fun than losing.
It isn't just a rumor.
"Winning cures a lot of things," first baseman Chris Davis...
Very soon - perhaps as soon as Monday, if right-hander Brandon Kintzler gets through his minor league rehabilitation assignment this afternoon with Single-A Potomac without any issues - the Nationals will be able to set up their bullpen with the goal of shortening games to six or seven innings.
That will require the back end relievers - Kintzler, righties Ryan Madson and Kelvin Herrera, and left-handed closer Sean Doolittle - to slot into more regular roles. Kintzler and Madson will handle the...
Spend even a few minutes around Nationals manager Davey Martinez and you quickly realize how much he craves attention to detail. No action is too small to be rushed through or done poorly. Pay attention to the small stuff, and you'll prosper; ignore it, and you invite fate to intercede, usually in the worst possible way.
The little things loomed large in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Phillies, a setback that came on the heels of a 12-2 drubbing that knocked the Nationals out of second place in...
When the Orioles drafted Canadian prep shortstop Adam Hall in the second round in 2017, it wasn't long before he signed and began to play in the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League. He began his pro career going 6-for-9 in his first two games with a double, triple, four runs scored, a stolen base and two RBIs.
Hard to get off to a much better start for the right-handed hitter from A.B. Lucas Secondary School in London, Ontario. But then Hall suffered an oblique strain that ended his 2017 season...
ATLANTA - The Orioles are getting run production from Mark Trumbo and Chris Davis in the middle of their order. And it's 2018. No one has ventured back in time.
Trumbo stayed hot today with a grand slam, Davis continued to celebrate his return with a bases-clearing double and the Orioles took care of business in regulation with a 7-5 victory over the Braves before a sellout crowd of 40,333 at SunTrust Park.
An offense that hibernated for most of the season has produced seven runs or more in...
Erick Fedde cruised through the first five hitters he faced Saturday afternoon, but then the Phillies nickel-and-dimed the right-hander to death, stringing together four straight singles in the second inning to forge a 2-2 tie.
Scott Kingery's infield single to short prolonged the inning and set the stage for the rally. Maikel Franco dropped a single into left field and then Jorge Alfaro's single to short center plated Kingery with the first Phillies run. None of the hits was struck...
ATLANTA - If the Orioles felt sluggish after last night's marathon game, they put up a brave front - so to speak.
Mark Trumbo hit a grand slam before Atlanta starter Julio Teheran recorded an out to give the Orioles a 4-0 lead.
Colby Rasmus walked, Adam Jones doubled, Manny Machado walked and Trumbo lined a 93 mph fastball over the center field fence for his fifth career slam and the third by the Orioles this season.
Center fielder Ender Inciarte reacted like he was going to make the catch,...
