The Orioles today announced plans for a celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the 1966 World Series victory. To commemorate the 50th anniversary, the Orioles will wear 1966 replica throwback uniforms and will welcome back members of the 1966 World Series team on Friday, July 8, during a pregame ceremony when the Orioles host the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at Oriole Park at 7:05 p.m. ET. All fans in attendance will receive a 1966 50th anniversary-themed Orioles T-shirt and will enjoy...

Entering this season, there was little debate over what the biggest concern surrounding the Orioles would be. While there were questions about the corner outfield spots and the offense's reliance on the home run, the starting rotation was always the most glaring question mark. There are still major doubts over what the rotation will become as 2016 plays out, but the unit deserves a little credit for the way it has performed in recent days. Specifically, Chris Tillman, Ubaldo Jimenez and...

The old adage goes that good baseball teams play .500 on the road and have a winning record at home. Still, Nationals fans can't help but have a bad taste in their mouths after dropping the last four games of a 5-5 road trip to the Cubs. It seems the Cubs have been edging out the Nats since the offseason, when they won bidding wars for free agents Ben Zobrist (5-for-13, three homers, nine RBIs in the series) and Jason Heyward (2-for-5 Sunday with a diving catch to rob Ryan Zimmerman of a...
What to make of the Nationals' roller-coaster 5-5 road trip?

CHICAGO - Had they been told at the outset, before they embarked on a 10-day road trip to face three imposing clubs, that they'd wind up with a 5-5 record, most everybody associated with the Nationals probably would have been content with it. On the heels of a disappointing series sweep against the Phillies, and with the Cardinals, Royals and Cubs on the docket, the Nats couldn't afford to set the bar too high. So why now, at the end of this grueling trip, does 5-5 feel like a...

Orioles outfielder Mark Trumbo played two seasons with Mike Trout. In 2012 and 2013 they were teammates on the Los Angeles Angels. Trumbo is now playing with Manny Machado. In the clubhouse after the Orioles' 11-3 win over Oakland on Sunday, Trumbo made a brief comparison of the two young stars. "They wow you, each and every day," Trumbo said. "Just when you think that they've done enough for that game, they do something crazy like hit a grand slam or make a play in the field. The sky is...

CHICAGO - They walked him. Then they walked him again. Then they intentionally walked him. Then they hit him with a pitch before walking him the next time up. Which set up another intentional walk, this time with runners on first and second base and two out in a tie game in extra innings. Which set up yet another intentional walk, also with runners on first and second base and two out in a tie game deeper into extra innings. Throughout it all, the Cubs made their intention quite clear. They...

The Orioles are embarking on a short road trip to Minnesota - two night games, one day game, one flight home. More payback time? They went 0-7 against the Twins last season, in case the wounds closed and you forgot about them. The four-game sweep in August at Camden Yards was killer, starting with a 15-2 thrashing and continuing with three straight one-run losses, the last in 12 innings. The teams met in the opening series of 2016 and the Orioles won all three games by scores of 3-2, 4-2 and...

CHICAGO - The Nationals threw everything they had, up to and possibly including the kitchen sink, in an attempt to do what no team in baseball has been able to do since last summer and actually beat Jake Arrieta. That still wasn't enough to pull off the implausible, though, certainly not when an overworked bullpen couldn't hold a late lead and a lineup that had countless opportunities to score runs throughout couldn't do it enough times to win. The Cubs rallied to score two runs in the...

It was Mother's Day, but this whole weekend was a bit of a family affair for the Orioles' Manny Machado. He had family in the stands and was playing against his brother-in-law, Oakland's Yonder Alonso. Today, Machado put on a show for his family and his many Orioles fans. He homered twice, hit a grand slam and drove in a career-high six runs in the Orioles' 11-3 win over Oakland. "It's a special day," Machado said. "We are glad to have our families here. I had my mom in the stands and...
