NATIONALS QUICK WRAP
Score: Nationals 3, Yankees 2
Recap: Anthony Rendon scored a run in the first and then drove in two in the second with a double into the left field corner. Jordan Zimmmermann retired all 12 batters he faced and the Nats held on for the one-run win.
Need to know: Zimmermann has now thrown nine scoreless innings this spring, allowing just three hits and one walk and striking out nine.

SARASOTA, Fla. - The Orioles have reassigned three players to minor league camp - pitcher Eddie Gamboa, infielder Cord Phelps and outfielder Julio Borbon.
The moves leave the Orioles with 50 players in camp, including 12 non-roster invitees.
Gamboa didn't allow a run in 4 2/3 innings over five appearances. He walked one and struck out six.
The Orioles want to stretch out Gamboa and prepare him to start at one of the affiliates this season. He could be assigned to Double-A Bowie, depending...
SARASOTA, Fla. - Orioles starter Miguel Gonzalez retired the Red Sox in order in the top of the first inning today, getting a line drive to short and two ground balls. He threw 13 pitches, eight for strikes.
A.J. Pierzynski doubled leading off the second, but Gonzalez retired the next three batters. By my unofficial count, he threw nine of his 10 pitches for strikes.
Update: Gonzalez gave up two runs in the third, including Brock Holt's leadoff home run on the first pitch. Daniel Nava...
Spring is in the air. Everywhere I look around.
Just ignore that chance of snow in the forecast.
You may have missed what some other media outlets are saying about the Nationals.
Don't worry, I have you covered.
* Infielders Anthony Rendon and Danny Espinosa are competing to win the starting job at second base. CBS St Louis' Rich Arleo is taking the time to profile one young player from each of the 30 major league clubs. Arleo's pick for the Nats is Rendon. Arleo believes the second...

VIERA, Fla. - Rafael Soriano's numbers this spring aren't pretty.
The Nationals closer has made two Grapefruit League appearances so far, each an inning long. In those two innings of work, Soriano has allowed seven runs on eight hits. He's struck out three and walked none, but the right-hander's location hasn't been good, and it's led to poor results.
Statistics only mean so much in spring training, but it's hard to ignore the level to which Soriano has been hit around early on.

SARASOTA, Fla. - It's been a noteworthy day in Orioles camp.
Left-hander Brian Matusz suffered an allergic reaction to peanuts Sunday night and may not pitch today. He's scheduled to follow starter Miguel Gonzalez.
Matusz went to the emergency room and had a second reaction.
My guess is he pitches today. From what I've been told, he's fine and expects to take the mound against the Red Sox.
Update: Matusz says he can pitch today. He said he was tired yesterday, but is fine...
