SARASOTA, Fla. - My flight out of Baltimore departed yesterday at 1:45 p.m. I arrived at my hotel in Sarasota around 10 p.m.
Not quite the way I drew it up.
In between, there was an unexpected landing in Orlando, complications with my rental car and an hour-long drive from Tampa.
Upon arriving at my hotel, I was reminded how the internet is slower than Jose Molina. It doesn't matter if you try to use a wireless card. It's the same hamster on a wheel.
Hope you enjoy being disconnected at...
As a kid growing up in the Baltimore area, Steve Clevenger went to Camden Yards and dreamed of playing on that field for the Orioles one day.
His dream came true late last season when the Orioles acquired him from the Cubs in July and he was a September call-up. In four games, Clevenger handled himself well behind the plate and went 4-for-15 with two RBIs.
When he made his O's debut Sept. 13, Clevenger became the 22nd Maryland-born Oriole.
That was a taste of playing for the orange and...
ORLANDO, Fla. - Greetings from rainy Orlando. My flight to stormy Tampa has been diverted, and passengers on my Southwest flight are now in two states.
Florida and limbo.
Eventually, we'll be allowed back on the plane. That's the idea, though the fine folks at Southwest are clearly working without a solid plan. They keep changing it on the fly - and now the ground.
Earlier today, Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter announced that he will retire following the 2014 season. His final home game will...
VIERA, Fla. - The Nationals have been interested in Rays catcher Jose Lobaton for a little while now. A report late this afternoon tosses out right-hander Nathan Karns as a guy who might be able to help the Nats land Lobaton in a deal with Tampa Bay.
The Tampa Bay Times is reporting that the Nats and Rays are talking about a Lobaton trade, with Karns serving as part of Tampa Bay's potential return for the 29-year-old catcher. Other players could be involved in the trade, according to the...

So the Orioles reached an agreement today with Korean pitcher Suk-min Yoon on a three-year contract. Here are a few notes on the 27-year-old right-hander:
* Yoon dealt with some shoulder issues last season when he pitched as both a starter and reliever for the Kia Tigers of the Korean Baseball Organization. He went 3-6 with seven saves and an ERA of 4.00. Over 87 2/3 innings, he fanned 76.
* Yoon's best season was in 2011 when he went 17-5 with an ERA of 2.45 and 178 strikeouts to be named...
VIERA, Fla. - Hello from the press box at Space Coast Stadium on a beautiful sunny, 79-degree day in Viera, Fla.
I'm not rubbing it in, I swear. Just updating everyone on the current climate here on the east coast of Florida. (OK, I'm rubbing it in a little bit. Sorry about that.)
The Nationals' spring facilities are very much the way I remember them from the last two seasons. Minor changes have been made here and there - for one, there's a new plaque with the Nationals logo and the words...
