Tonight's Nationals-Braves game scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m. at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., has been postponed due to the tragic events that occurred earlier today.
The team will play a split doubleheader on Tuesday, September 17 with tonight's make-up game beginning at 1:05 p.m. The second regularly scheduled game will begin at 7:05 p.m. All gates for the originally scheduled 7:05 p.m. game will open 1.5 hours after the last out of the 1:05 p.m. game or 6:00 p.m., whichever is...
While the Nationals postponed last night's game in the wake of the mass shooting at the Navy Yard just blocks from Nationals Park, the rest of the baseball world did play on yesterday.
And the Nats wake up a half-game farther back in the National League wild card chase than they were this time yesterday.
The Reds beat the Astros last night, pushing Cincinnati five games ahead of the Nats for the final NL playoff spot. The Nats remain four back in the loss column, and have 13 games remaining...
It now seems like a long time ago that the Orioles won six straight series against the Boston Red Sox. It wasn't that long ago, but now they have lost their past two series, losing two of three in late July in Baltimore and a month later in Boston.
The Red Sox, who went 69-93 a year ago, are red-hot and their magic number to clinch the American League East is four.
Boston just swept the Yankees, outscoring them 22-7 in a three-game series. The Red Sox have won five of their last six, 10 of...
Is this a make-or-break series for the Orioles?
Three games in Boston. Get swept and get out of the race?
Probably not, considering that there isn't a single team that seems capable of putting a stranglehold on a wild card spot.
For the Orioles, it starts tonight at Fenway Park with Scott Feldman opposing Ryan Dempster.
The Orioles should feel good about handing the ball to Feldman, who's allowed three earned runs or fewer in each of his last six starts. He's given up only four runs in...

The Orioles today announced that they have reinstated outfielder Henry Urrutia from the Restricted List. To make room for him on the 40-man roster, infielder Wilson Betemit has been designated for assignment.
Urrutia, 26, batted .276/.276/.310 in 24 games with the Orioles this season.
Betemit, 31, has appeared in six games for the Orioles in 2013, going hitless in 10 at-bats. He was on the disabled list from March 26 to August 27 with a right knee sprain.
Orioles reliever Darren O'Day threw off flat ground this morning in Sarasota and may progress to a mound on Tuesday if his hand responds favorably.
O'Day hasn't pitched since Sept. 7 because of soreness and tingling in the index and middle fingers on his right hand. He didn't accompany the team to Boston.
O'Day threw only fastballs today, but will mix in his break ball on Tuesday - a pitch that has brought the most discomfort.
The Orioles are aiming to get O'Day ready for the Tampa Bay...
