ATLANTA - The Nationals announced this afternoon that they've placed right-hander Taylor Jordan on the 15-day disabled list with a right lower back strain, and recalled outfielder/first baseman Tyler Moore from Triple-A Syracuse. Manager Davey Johnson told reporters on Wednesday that Jordan had suffered some kind of back injury while at the dentist. The rookie right-hander worked six innings last night, allowing two runs (both unearned) on seven hits. On a team-imposed innings limit this...

The Orioles today announced that they have recalled right-hander Josh Stinson from Triple-A Norfolk. Stinson, 25, is joining the Orioles for the third time this season (also April 24 and July 10-11). He made one start, allowing five earned runs in 5.2 innings on April 24 against Toronto. In 21 starts for the Tides this season, Stinson has gone 7-5 with a 3.75 ERA (124.2IP, 52ER).

ATLANTA - There's one key factor in whether the Nationals can, or choose to, use tonight to retaliate to the multiple plunkings of Bryce Harper by Braves pitchers over the last two weeks. That factor is whether or not the umpires issue warnings before the first pitch of tonight's game is thrown. If the umpires try and take matters into their own hands and prevent further incident between the Nats and Braves by issuing warnings to both benches before the game begins, it would make it...

The Orioles will recall pitcher Josh Stinson from Triple-A Norfolk to provide an extra bullpen arm for tonight's game against the Colorado Rockies at Camden Yards. The team will make the announcement this afternoon. Stinson will replace outfielder Henry Urrutia on the 25-man roster. Urrutia was optioned following last night's 6-3 loss. Stinson worked six innings Tuesday night for Norfolk, making him more available than other candidates on the Tides' pitching staff. He skipped his bullpen...

When the Orioles began the second half going 4-0 and scoring 23 runs, they looked like a team poised to go on a hot streak. But then they lost five of the next six. When the Orioles started their last road trip going 4-1 they looked poised for a great trip. Then they lost three straight at Arizona, each in walkoff fashion. When Nate McLouth hit a leadoff homer last night you had the feeling the O's may get it going against Colorado and start a nine-game homestand with a much-needed win. And...

ATLANTA - Through a team spokesman, Bryce Harper declined to talk to reporters after tonight's 3-2 loss to the Braves. When it came to the topic of Harper twice getting hit by Braves pitchers tonight, his teammates weren't willing to say all that much, either. "You know, that's one of those things we take care of in-house," Jayson Werth said. "That's just part of the game. I'm not going to speak publicly about it." Harper was hit by an Alex Wood curveball in the fourth inning and a...

Major League Baseball will expand its video review process next season. More plays will be subject to review. Managers will be allowed up to three challenges each game. Manager Buck Showalter has been too busy to give the changes a thorough examination, but he had a few quick impressions. He wonders why only one challenge is allowed through the first six innings. Is MLB suggesting that those innings aren't as important as the seventh through the ninth? And I sense that he'd like for balls...

ATLANTA - In the last 28 or so hours, the Nationals have lost on a go-ahead three-run homer in the ninth and a walk-off solo homer in the 10th. The tough 2013 season gets tougher. The Nats came back to tie tonight's game 2-2 in the top of the eighth inning and were able to get it to extras, but Ian Krol surrendered a walk-off homer to Justin Upton with one out in the 10th that gave the Braves a 3-2 win and left the Nats walking off the field hanging their heads again. Taylor Jordan allowed...

The Orioles seem confident that reliever Francisco Rodriguez will avoid the disabled list despite leaving tonight's game with a strained right groin. However, they're expected to make a roster move to add another pitcher for their bullpen. "We're probably going to have to get an arm here tomorrow," said manager Buck Showalter following a 6-3 loss to the Rockies. "We're getting a little short down there, especially with probably not wanting to push Frankie tomorrow. We'll have to wait...
