Scott Feldman allowed only his third home run tonight in six starts with the Orioles, as Justin Smoak lifted a 75 mph curveball onto the flag court in right field in the top of the second inning to give Seattle a 1-0 lead. Feldman allowed a single and walked a batter in the first before retiring the next three Mariners, striking out Raul Ibanez to close the inning. And yes, Ibanez is still booed here by fans who haven't forgotten the damage he did for the Yankees in last year's American...

Left-hander Ross Detwiler could miss the remainder of the season according to manager Davey Johnson, as told to reporters in Milwuakee. Detwiler has been on the disabled list since July 4 with a herniated disc in his lower back. Detwiler is currently in the middle of a 30-day rest period. The Nationals then hope to put Detwiler on a throwing program that will rebuild his arm strength. Johnson remains hopeful that Detwiler will return before the end of the season. "We'll try to bring...

In his first 710 career major league appearances, new Orioles reliever Francisco Rodriguez allowed more than one homer in a game just once. Last night was the second time. Brought in to pitch the eighth with the O's leading Seattle 11-6, Rodriguez allowed two solo homers while also recording three strikeouts in the inning. Rodriguez gave up just two homers in 25 games with Milwaukee, but now has now allowed four in four games over four innings as an Oriole. "Was trying to be aggressive,"...

Orioles manager Buck Showalter didn't write shortstop J.J. Hardy's name in tonight's lineup. But that doesn't mean Hardy is definitely getting the night off. "He doesn't start," Showalter said. "Two different terminologies there." Hardy, who has started every game this season, could be used tonight as a pinch-hitter or defensive replacement. The game will dictate it. "I'd like to stay away from him," Showalter said. "I've been trying to do it for a while. Told him we were...

Orioles pitcher Jason Hammel was relieved today, and in a good way. Hammel told reporters that the MRI taken on his right forearm didn't reveal anything more serious than some inflammation. "Definitely some good news," he said. "Came back real good. No structural damage, but definitely inflammation around the ulnar nerve. We just have to calm that area down. "The forearm's a little stiff. I wouldn't call it tendinitis or anything, but it came back about as good as it could have...

With more suspensions expected to come in Major League Baseball over the next few days for players' use of performance-enhancing drugs, the Orioles' Chris Davis was asked yet again today to talk on the subject. Davis has been an open book on this topic this year, repeatedly saying he has not used performance enhancing drugs and has never even thought about using them. He was asked today if the upcoming suspensions serve as a deterrent in the future. "I don't know. Guys have obviously...

Delmarva's Marin keeps his focus on the present

Orioles
SALISBURY, Md. - If the grind of his first full pro season is weighing on Single-A Delmarva shortstop Adrian Marin, he's hiding it well. Though back tightness has caused the 2012 third-round draft pick from playing in the Shorebirds' past five games, the 19-year-old Marin has certainly withstood the rigors of a longer campaign that frequently saps the energy and threatens the confidence of young players. Marin expects to be back in the lineup tonight when the Shorebirds host the Greensboro...
