The Washington Nationals today selected 14 players on the second day of Major League Baseball's First-Year Player Draft. Nationals Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo, Nationals Assistant General Manager & Vice President of Player Personnel Roy Clark and Nationals Director of Scouting Kris Kline made the joint announcement.
The Nationals kicked off today's action selecting University of California-Berkeley second baseman Tony Renda with their...

BOSTON - The Orioles committed two errors and had one lapse in judgement in the fifth inning, and we're tied, 2-2, at Fenway Park.
Mark Reynolds committed his eighth error of the season, and his second at first base, when he mishandled Daniel Nava's bouncer leading off the inning. Pitcher Jason Hammel was late covering first, but he never got the chance to find out how late.
Mike Aviles squirted a single into left field, and Nava scored when Reynolds fielded Scott Podsednik's bunt and...
In his 10th at-bat of the 2012 season, Michael Morse got into the hit column.
Up in the bottom of the fourth, Morse roped a double to the opposite field in right-center and galloped into second base standing up.
It was a vintage Morse swing and result, and had to feel nice for the big guy after going hitless in his first nine at-bats since coming off the disabled list.
Unfortunately for the Nationals, Morse stayed stuck at second, as Ian Desmond flied out to shallow center and Danny Espinosa...
BOSTON - If Red Sox left-hander Jon Lester is going to remain unbeaten against the Orioles, his teammates will have to rally from a two-run deficit.
Adam Jones and Matt Wieters had back-to-back singles with two outs in the third inning to give the Orioles a 2-0 lead.
Endy Chavez, batting ninth, reached on an infield hit with one out, and Robert Andino reached on an error by shortstop Mike Aviles. J.J. Hardy flied out, but Jones and Wieters came through in the clutch.
Both runs off Lester...
BOSTON - Orioles manager Buck Showalter needs a fifth starter on Saturday, but he still hasn't decided who will take the mound.
It won't be left-hander Zach Britton, who starts tonight at Triple-A Norfolk. Britton would be working on short rest Saturday. Also, the Orioles want to keep him on the injury-rehab assignment and make sure he's ready to be activated.
Showalter said Britton's return isn't "imminent."
"He needs to continue to pitch well at the level he's pitching at to be...
With the Nationals back in town for another few days before shipping up to Boston, reliever Drew Storen has rejoined the team to check in with team doctors and continue his throwing program.
And believe me when I tell you, he's thrilled to be back in D.C. and away from the heat he was dealing with while rehabbing at the Nats' extended spring training complex in Viera, Fla.
"I can't explain to you (how hot it is)," Storen said. "Actually, I can. Go to the steam room, and go play catch in...
BOSTON - Adam Jones said he could have played yesterday if the schedule allowed it, and he had no intention of sitting out tonight's game.
Jones underwent MRIs on both hands and wrists in Sarasota that came back negative.
"I'm not missing no game. If there's nothing broke, I'm not missing no game," Jones said.
"I wasn't worried. Since we had an off day and we were down there and we've got our hand specialist down there, it was fitting to let them see everything. It was cool to stay...
BOSTON - Adam Jones' right wrist isn't bothering him enough to keep him out of tonight's lineup. He's batting third instead of cleanup for the Orioles.
