If anyone knows how J.J. Hardy feels after coming off the disabled list today, it's J.J. Hardy.
"Good," he said. "It's been a lot longer than I thought it would be."
Hardy hasn't played since April 9, when he left a game against the Rangers at Camden Yards after one at-bat. He went on the disabled list with a strained left oblique.
"I was kind of hoping for less time," said Hardy, who played in three games at Triple-A Norfolk on his injury rehab assignment, going 2-for-9 with three...
I'll plug in quotes later, but I wanted to pass along a few items from manager Buck Showalter's pregame session with the media.
Showalter will be in Bowie tomorrow morning to watch Alfredo Simon pitch. However, Simon won't make his scheduled start for Triple-A Norfolk on Monday because he's returning to the Dominican Republic.
Simon was supposed to join the Tides for their game at Lehigh Valley, but he'll fly to the Dominican to take care of a matter that's related to his previous legal...

The Orioles today announced that they have activated shortstop J.J. Hardy from the 15-day disabled list. Hardy was placed on the DL on April 13, retroactive to April 10, with a strained left oblique.
Hardy has batted .200 (3-15) with three doubles and two RBI in six games for the Orioles.
To make room for Hardy on the roster, the Orioles have designated right-handed pitcher Josh Rupe for assignment. Rupe posted a 5.65 ERA (14.1IP, 16H, 9ER) in nine appearances for Baltimore.

The Orioles activated shortstop J.J. Hardy from the disabled list earlier today.
To make room on the 25-man roster, the club has designated long reliever Josh Rupe for assignment.
Rupe allowed nine earned runs and 16 hits in 14 1/3 innings for a 5.65 ERA. In his last outing, he held Kansas City to one hit in 3 2/3 scoreless innings.
The Orioles decided to keep two left-handers in their bullpen. Jason Berken is the only long reliever.
The two moves leave the Orioles with a 12-man pitching...
HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Right fielder Bryce Harper extended his hit streak to 14 games with two hits, including an RBI single to left in the fifth inning, as the Single-A Suns downed the Delmarva Shorebirds 7-3 before 1,808 on school day at Municipal Stadium.
Harper also had a single to right in the eighth. He flew out to center field in his first at-bat and struck out twice. Harper has reached base in 19 consecutive games and has had 14 multi-hit games. He has had 14 RBIs in those 14 multi-hit...
Right-handed reliever Brandon Cooney of the Double-A Bowie Baysox went on the disabled list Monday due to shoulder soreness.
Cooney was 1-1 with one save and an ERA of 2.70. Over 10 innings, he allowed just five hits with seven walks and 10 strikeouts. The Orioles don't believe the injury is too serious and he should not be out long.
Billy Rowell came off the disabled list Monday and is batting .231 with no homers and four RBIs over 13 games with Bowie.
Trent Mummey, an outfielder for...
HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Hagerstown Suns right fielder Bryce Harper slapped a clean single to left in the bottom of the fifth inning that scored Adrian Sanchez from second and gave the Single-A Suns a 7-3 lead over Delmarva.
Harper was gunned down trying to stretch the single to a double, but it did allow the run to score.
Harper now has a 14-game hit streak and is 1-for-4 in the game.
HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Single-A Delmarva scored two runs off of Suns starter Bobby Hansen in the second frame. Michael Flacco, younger brother of Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, smacked an RBI double and Dudley Leonara added a run-scoring hit two batters later to give the Shorebirds a 2-0 lead.
The Suns rallied for three runs in the bottom of the second. Michael Taylor drove in a run with a double and Blake Kelso had a two-run double.
Bryce Harper struck out on a 3-2 count with a man on third and...
HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Single-A Hagerstown Suns right fielder Bryce Harper made a nice over-the-shoulder running catch to rob the Shorebirds' Jonathan Schoop of extra bases in the top of the first inning in a morning affair from Municipal Stadium.
In the bottom of the first with one out and a man on first, Harper swung on the first pitch pitch from Delmarva right-hander Luis Noel and popped up to center field for the second out.
No score after one inning on school day in Hagerstown.
