Jeremy Guthrie will have to settle for a no-decision.
I thought manager Buck Showalter made the right call bringing back Jeremy Accardo for the eighth inning. Accardo threw seven pitches, all of them for strikes, while cruising through the seventh. No reason to pass the baton.
Well, Showalter has done it a few times in the eighth.
Accardo was done after Jacoby Ellsbury's leadoff single and Dustin Pedroia's walk. Clay Rapada replaced him and gave up a run-scoring single to the left-handed...
Jeremy Guthrie's pitch count forced him out of tonight's game, not the Boston Red Sox.
Well, the Red Sox made him throw 111 pitches, but they couldn't score off him. He scattered seven hits, walked one and struck out six.
Jeremy Accardo will pitch the seventh with the Orioles holding a 4-0 lead.
Guthrie has allowed two runs or fewer in four of his five starts, but he lost three straight before tonight. Talk about a deceiving record.
Luke Scott faced Josh Beckett again in the bottom of...
The Red Sox wish they could have that short fly ball that Derrek Lee hit back.
They failed to catch that pop with one out in the fourth and that should have been an out. Instead, an out later, Luke Scott came up and blasted a Eutaw Street, two-run homer. Adam Jones followed with a solo shot that just made it out to left center.
If the Sox catch that ball, you can make a case the Orioles get no runs in that inning.
Scott's blast was the 53rd onto Eutaw Street in the history of Camden Yards...
The Orioles gave Jeremy Guthrie a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning.
Somebody pass the smelling salts.
Luke Scott hit a two-run shot with two outs, the ball traveling an estimated 426 feet before landing on Eutaw St.
Adam Jones followed with a drive that barely cleared the left field fence, but it also counted.
Scott admired his shot, and Josh Beckett made sure the entire Orioles dugout knew that he didn't appreciate it. Plate umpire Fieldin Culbreth had to calm him down. Could get very...
Jeremy Guthrie fell into an early jam tonight, putting runners on second and third with one out in the top of the first inning. But he struck out Kevin Youkilis and retired David Ortiz on a shallow fly ball to left field, leaving the game scoreless and his pitch count at 24.
It's mostly been a breeze for Guthrie since the first. He's retired seven of the last eight batters, striking out five. He got Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia looking to end the third after Jason Varitek went down...
Here is how the hitters in tonight's Orioles' lineup have fared in their careers versus Josh Beckett.
Brian Roberts: 12-for-40 (.300), with one homer and 4 RBIs.
Nick Markakis: 12-for-39 (.308), with one homer and 5 RBIs.
Derrek Lee: 3-for-6 (.500), with two homers and 2 RBIs.
Vlad Guerrero: 14-for-47 (.298), with two homers and 6 RBIs.
Luke Scott: 9-for-20 (.450), with two homers and 5 RBIs.
Adam Jones: 6-for-23 (.261), with no homers and 1 RBI.
Mark Reynolds: 1-for-3 (.333) with no homers...

After battling right shoulder inflammation in spring training, reliever Henry Rodriguez joined the Nationals on Wednesday afternoon ready to contribute out of the bullpen.
The hard throwing right-hander was acquired from Oakland for Josh Willingham back in December. Rodriguez completed a rehab assignment in Double-A Harrisburg and Triple-A Syracuse before being recalled by the Nationals.
"Everything went well," he said of his rehab. "I feel great and now I just have to go out there and do...
The Orioles have four stolen bases in five attempts this season to rank last in the majors.
It hasn't gone unnoticed by manager Buck Showalter and his coaching staff.
"We talked about it a little yesterday in the advanced meeting, but you'd probably be surprised how many guys are on their own to run," Showalter said. "You know what happens a lot is guys don't want to take the bat out of this guys hand, or 'I want to give him this hole to shoot.' You always have that, you can talk...
Brandon Snyder extended his batting streak to five games today with two hits and two runs scored in Triple-A Norfolk's 7-6 loss this afternoon at Indianapolis. Snyder is 7-for-22 with four RBIs during the hit streak and is now batting .288 on the season.
He is hitting .353 with runners in scoring position and has an OPS of .876 through today's game.
Nick Green added a three-run homer for the Tides and Tyler Henson knocked in two runs. Leadoff hitter Matt Angle went 0-for-5 to drop his...
