Pre-game nuggets

You can choose your own dipping sauce. David Hernandez, Koji Uehara and Dennis Sarfate are slated to pitch tomorrow against the Twins in Fort Myers. Kevin Millwood is scheduled to throw five innings in the B-squad game in Sarasota, with Jim Johnson going the last two. Matt Wieters will catch Millwood. Jason Berken will start Wednesday against the Blue Jays in Sarasota, followed by Kam Mickolio and Cla Meredith. Jeremy Guthrie pitches Thursday against the Blue Jays in Dunedin, followed by Matt Albers and Alberto Castillo. Brian Matusz goes Friday against the Phillies in Clearwater - I'm sure they're eager to get another shot at him - followed by Johnson and Uehara. Brad Bergesen starts Saturday against the Pirates in Sarasota, followed by Mickolio and Albers. Chris Tillman and Jake Arrieta will pitch in Saturday's other game against the Red Sox in Fort Myers. Manager Dave Trembley put Millwood in the B-squad game to increase his innings and prevent him from facing a division opponent. Brian Roberts flew to Baltimore last night and could return to Sarasota tonight after being examined by Dr. Lee Riley at Johns Hopkins. Trembley dismissed Miguel Abreu as a candidate to replace Roberts at second base. Abreu eventually will be sent to the minor league camp. Ty Wigginton, Robert Andino and Justin Turner are the in-house candidates. Jake Arrieta and Brandon Erbe each threw two scoreless innings in yesterday's B-squad game in Pirate City. Arrieta walked one batter, Erbe was perfect. Troy Patton's fastball hit 91 mph, the best Trembley has seen from him. Chorye Spoone gave up the only run.
