The battery of closer Chad Cordero and catcher Brian Schneider was welcomed back to Nationals Park on Friday night to throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to World Series Game 3.
Cordero pitched for Montreal (2003-2004) and the Nationals (2005-2008), while Schneider played for the Expos (2000-2004) and Nationals (2005-2007). Cordero saved 113 games from 2005-2007, while Schneider hit 47 homers in his Expos/Nationals career.

In choosing to start Asdrúbal Cabrera over Howie Kendrick tonight, Nationals manager Davey Martinez went with the numbers. Cabrera has excellent career numbers versus Astros starter Zack Greinke, and so he gets the nod over Kendrick, who has been among the biggest contributors to the Nationals' run to the World Series.
Cabrera is 16-for-37 with a .512 on-base percentage and 1.079 OPS in his career against Greinke, no insignificant sample of head-to-head at-bats.

There have been 4,183 major league baseball games played in the District of Columbia since 1934. Long-gone Griffith Stadium hosted 2,150 of those through the 1961 season, with RFK Stadium opening in 1962 and hosting 1,047 games through the 2007 season (with, of course, a 33-year gap in the middle of all that). The Orioles affiliates from the Rookie-level team through the Triple-A International League squad will each have five coaches, counting the manager, during the 2020 season. Each club last year had a manager, pitching coach, hitting coach and one field/development coach.
