The other two Venezuelan signees: left-hander Franklin Marquez and outfielder Roismar Quintana.

The baseball world today is continuing to mourn the death of Los Angeles Angels left-hander Tyler Skaggs.
Manager Davey Martinez began his pregame meeting with the media with a statement from the Nationals:
"On behalf of the Washington Nationals, our family here, myself, players, coaches, our heartfelt condolences to Tyler's family, the Anaheim Angels. It's a tough ordeal. Regardless of teams we play on, this is a baseball family. He's part of it. I wish the family well. Like I said, our...
Anthony Rendon admitted today what has been suspected for several weeks: He's playing through an injury that has kept him from running at full speed all the time. And this undisclosed injury may prompt the Nationals third baseman from skipping his first-ever All-Star Game next week.
Rendon wouldn't offer any specifics about his current physical condition except to acknowledge it has been affecting him for some time and has been noticeable to those who have watched him play at less than 100...
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The bullpen has changed again for the Orioles tonight with Josh Lucas activated from the injured list and Branden Kline optioned last night to Triple-A Norfolk.
There's less shuffling in a casino.
Lucas hasn't pitched since working three innings on June 13 and trying to ignore the tightness in his shoulder. He didn't require an injury-rehab assignment.
It isn't unprecedented, of course. Others have returned without joining an affiliate, including first baseman Chris...
The Orioles' final road trip before the All-Star break continues tonight in St. Petersburg, Fla. where the Orioles face the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays won the series opener 6-3 last night as Kevin Kiermaier hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the sixth.
Tampa Bay (49-36) is the American League wild-card leader but trails the Yankees by 6 1/2 games in the AL East. Coming into this series, Tampa Bay was 1-3-2 over its past six series and the Rays went 13-16 in June. The Rays have trailed in 18 of...
It's a familiar matchup tonight on South Capitol Street, where the Nationals and Marlins meet again, one week after they faced off in Miami. Even the pitching matchup is the same, with Patrick Corbin opposing Zac Gallen for the second time in six days.
Corbin has been outstanding in two starts against the Marlins this season - one run, seven hits, 14 strikeouts in 16 innings - so he certainly figures to have a plan of attack for tonight's matchup. Sadly, the left-hander will be pitching with...
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Chris Davis is playing first base tonight and Trey Mancini is the designated hitter as the Orioles continue their series against the Rays.
Chance Sisco is catching and batting cleanup. Anthony Santander is in right field. Stevie Wilkerson is the center fielder.
Asher Wojciechowski makes his Orioles debut tonight.
Right-hander Charlie Morton was named to the All-Star team after going 8-2 with a 2.43 ERA and 1.050 WHIP in 100 innings. He's allowed only seven home runs in...
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Orioles no longer have Asher Wojciechowski on their taxi squad.
He's in the rotation.
Wojciechowski will become the 14th pitcher to start for the Orioles this season when he takes the ball tonight against the Rays at Tropicana Field. His contract was selected from Triple-A Norfolk after he joined the team yesterday in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Pitcher Matt Wotherspoon has been designated for assignment again to make room for Wojciechowski on the 40-man roster. The Orioles...
