Miguel Gonzalez was disappointed with his outing today - and he could say the same for his three starts since coming off the disabled list.
The right-hander gave up three runs in 4 2/3 innings today, has an ERA of 6.13 and has given up 25 hits in 14 2/3 innings in those last three starts.
"Command," Gonzalez said. "Just flying open and I have to keep working on that and staying back. That has been my biggest issue this year. Other than that, I felt good.
"Just have to stay mentally strong....
The Orioles planned on sending down a reliever and bringing up an infielder once third baseman Manny Machado began serving his suspension. However, the rotation has produced one quality start in the last seven games, taxing a bullpen that may not be able to handle a subtraction.
"The timing is never good, especially with some of the pending things, because you'd like to do some things with an infielder, but where we are with the bullpen is going to make that hard to do," manager Buck...
Miguel Gonzalez lasted just 4 2/3 innings. He was not around when Tampa Bay scored seven runs in the sixth inning. Or added two more in the seventh.
Yeah, it was a rough day for Orioles pitchers.
Matt Joyce went 5-for-6 with two homers and four RBIs to lead the Tampa Bay Rays to a 12-7 rout of the Orioles in front of 32,665 at Camden Yards.
The Orioles reached the season's midpoint today and have a record of 42-39.

Orioles third baseman Manny Machado has picked the days leading up to his suspension to really get hot.
Machado homered for the third time in three days to give the Orioles a 3-2 lead in the fourth inning. He went to the opposite field off Rays starter Alex Cobb.
Ben Zobrist homered off Miguel Gonzalez in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 3-3, his second RBI of the day.
Machado homered in Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader, yesterday and again this afternoon, giving him seven on the season....
Miguel Gonzalez strung together four consecutive quality starts for the Orioles before going on the disabled list retroactive to May 31 with a strained oblique.
Before today, Gonzalez had allowed seven runs and 17 hits over 10 innings in two starts since his return. He seemed to be fine physically. He just hadn't found the same rhythm.
Two batters into today's game, Gonzalez already had fallen behind 1-0 to the Rays.
Desmond Jennings drew a leadoff walk and scored on Ben Zobrist's double to...
The Orioles now have two confirmed starters for their four-game series against the Rangers at Camden Yards.
Ubaldo Jimenez will start Monday night's opener and Chris Tillman will start on Wednesday. Reliever T.J. McFarland remains a prime candidate to take the mound Tuesday, and manager Buck Showalter said he's leaning toward using left-hander Wei-Yin Chen on normal rest Thursday.
Kevin Gausman will throw a bullpen session Monday in Aberdeen. Nothing is scheduled for him beyond that...
Orioles reliever T.J. McFarland has an ERA of 0.57 in June. That leads American League relievers with at least 10 innings pitched.
He is having a good season for the Orioles, going 0-1 with a 2.70 ERA over 14 games. Now the question is, will he make his second major league start on Tuesday when the O's need a starter against Texas?
McFarland said he doesn't know yet.
"I haven't been reading too much into it," he said. "I do know that however the next two games play out is possibly a...
One of these days, Orioles third baseman Manny Machado will begin serving his suspension.
It's just not going to happen today.
Machado is batting seventh again today, one spot ahead of second baseman Jonathan Schoop. Nick Hundley is behind the plate.

When the season began, the Orioles lost two of their first three series against American League East rivals. But since they lost that second series, dropping two of three to Toronto from April 11-13, they are unbeaten in AL East series.
They are 6-0-2 since then, splitting a pair of four-game series and winning the others. They'll need a win today to split this series with Tampa Bay and keep that streak going.
The Orioles began yesterday at 22-14 in AL East games. That was not only the best...
You know what's weird? Having a Sunday off.
Sundays are never days off in the baseball world. The only times I've had a Sunday off since I started covering the Nationals in 2012 were when football was on my television.
I have futbol on my television today, but no football. I'll get past it.
With yesterday's doubleheader against the Cubs now in the books, the Nationals are at the halfway point of their season. Eighty-one games have been played, and with the two wins yesterday, the Nats hold...
