On the day of the event, FanFest tickets will be...
FanFest autograph vouchers on sale January 18 and 2014 individual game tickets will go on sale February 1.
The kickoff to the 2014 baseball season will begin on Saturday, February 1, as the Orioles host their annual FanFest event at the Baltimore Convention Center. 2014 FanFest, presented by Visit Sarasota County, will feature appearances by current and former Orioles players and coaches as part of a day-long celebration of baseball that will also include clinics, exhibits and interactive...
The 2014 inductees into baseball's Hall of Fame will be announced today at 2 p.m. on MLB Network.
We won't have a repeat of last year's shutout.
Greg Maddux is a slam dunk, though he won't be a unanimous selection. I guess 355 victories, a 3.16 ERA, four Cy Young Awards, eight All-Star selections and 18 Gold Glove Awards - the most all-time at any position - over 23 seasons aren't enough for some people.
MLB.com's Ken Gurnick caused quite a stir yesterday when his ballot revealed only...
Former Orioles right-hander Mike Mussina may make the Hall of Fame one day, but it appears today will not be that day. He may well come up short on a ballot plentiful with worthy candidates.
It is clear to me that all these years later some O's fans are still bitter about Mussina's signing with the Yankees as a free agent. What is not clear is exactly what percentage of O's fans feel that way. I would think time heals some wounds, but not all of them for some fans.
If Mussina does someday...
The Orioles announced this afternoon that they signed knuckleballers Eddie Gamboa and Zach Clark to minor league contracts. Gamboa has received an invitation to spring training.
Gamboa, 29, was 4-6 with a 3.64 ERA in 16 starts at Double-A Bowie and 2-5 with a 6.23 ERA in nine starts at Triple-A Norfolk. He's 37-34 with a 3.37 ERA in six minor league seasons in the Orioles system.
The highlight for Gamboa last year was throwing a seven-inning no-hitter for Bowie on June 30 against...
As I write this, it is currently 16 degrees with a wind chill somewhere in the negative numbers. One thing that is helping me with this weather is knowing spring training is right around the corner. Even though it's still the offseason, many in the media are still talking about the Orioles.
First, I'm starting with some news that disturbed the residents of Charm City. It's going to be OK, Birdland. Just remember to breathe.
* Hearts sank in Baltimore shortly into the New Year when Yankees...
The Washington Nationals today announced that Valerie J. Camillo has been named Chief Revenue & Marketing Officer and will be responsible for all revenue generating departments, including ticketing, marketing, special events and corporate partnerships. Camillo will begin her new role on February 18, 2014.
Camillo most recently served as Vice President with the NBA's Team Marketing and Business Operations (TMBO) group, which acts as a liaison between the league office and the teams of the...
Most people kick off the New Year vowing to lose weight. Nationals left fielder Bryce Harper wants to gain weight. Don't panic, it's purely muscle. But Harper sparked national debate among media outlets over his desirable target weight.
Last Friday, ESPN ran a story with a quote from Harper saying he wanted to get "as big as a house." As Dan Kolko explained on Saturday, Harper will enter spring training around 245 pounds to make up for the weight loss that occurs during the grind of the...
During this frigid time of year, people want to escape to the beach, warmer temperatures and sunny skies.
One place to escape to is Sarasota, the spring training home of the Baltimore Orioles. Since 2010, the Sarasota County tourism industry has benefited greatly from housing the Orioles during spring training.
Not only has the county been able to run "Visit Sarasota" ads during O's and Nats games, it has also seen an increase in visitors from the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area.
And let...
