Nationals reinstate Casey Janssen, put Sammy Solis on 15-day DL

The Nationals reinstated right-handed pitcher Casey Janssen and placed lefty Sammy Solis on the 15-day disabled list today with left shoulder inflammation. Janssen joins the Nats' active roster for the first time after missing the first 41 games of the season.

Janssen-Spring-White.jpgJanssen, who signed with Washington in February, was brought on to replace Tyler Clippard in the Nats bullpen, presumably to take on the eighth inning duties. But, right shoulder inflammation has delayed his debut with the team. Janssen has made six rehab appearances between Single-A Potomac and Double-A Harrisburg, allowing two earned runs in 5 2/3 innings pitched while holding opponents to a .182 batting average.

The righty is 29-24 in his career with a 3.52 ERA and 90 saves.

Solis made his major league debut on April 30 against the New York Mets at Citi Field. He posted two scoreless innings, while only allowing one hit and striking out Curtis Granderson. The 26-year-old is 1-0 with a 5.00 ERA in six appearences this season.

The Nats start a three-game series against the Phillies at Nationals Park tonight at 7:05 p.m.
