I had an idea who this month's winner might be before I even finished tallying up the points. He was so often first to the table and flush with bonus trivia, with a photo or two posted to the MASNsports.com Facebook page thrown in there as well.
During the month of July, Chris in Baltimore racked up four points for a correct answer every week and a heavy handful of bonus points for his extra efforts during this month's 'Where in the Yard?' photo contest here in the O's Buzz.
Full Name: William Nathaniel Showalter
Birthdate: May 23, 1956
Birthplace: DeFuniak Springs, FL
Playing Career: Showalter played college ball at Mississippi State University, graduating as an All-American in 1977. No doubt the .459 batting average helped him get drafted in the fifth round by the New York Yankees following college. After seven years as a first baseman in the Yankees' farm system, Showalter's playing career ended in 1983, never making it to the majors.
The average person works a five-day work week; the average major league pitcher goes to work once every five days.
So what are they doing for all those days in between? Well, it's not all hanging out on the bench watching ballgames.
As Jeremy Guthrie takes the mound Wednesday night against the Blue Jays, the right-hander takes you through the meticulous routine he'll carry out on Thursday - the day after his latest start.
According to Guthrie, the post-start routine begins the afternoon...
Remember the 1970 World Series Anniversary Auction that put up for grabs autographed 1970 championship team replica jerseys, hats, and batting helmets?
Well if you're interested, the final report from the O's is that the auction raised more than $50,000 for the Orioles Charitable Fund.
In further celebration of Orioles history, the Annual Orioles Hall of Fame Luncheon will be held on Friday, August 6 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the sixth floor of the Warehouse at Camden yards.
For this week's 'Where in the Yard?' you'll have to think outside the lines, but don't worry, you've all see this particular piece of the Yard before - and I even know some people who think touching this bright yellow piece of Oriole Park is good luck - though for you or the Birds, I'm not sure.
So as always, take a look at the photo below and let us know what the item is and where it's located in or around Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
And remember, this is your last chance to rack up...
It's shaping up to be a big week for Jason Berken in Birdland and beyond. First, he gets a T-shirt Tuesday at Oriole Park; now a player appearance at the new Sports Clips in White Marsh.

The Oriole Bird and former O's Scott McGregor, Rick Dempsey, and Dave Johnson will join Berken Thursday afternoon as well.
The group of O's will help to celebrate the...
Tuesday, July 20 isn't just Jason Berken T-Shirt Tuesday at Camden Yards - and I'm not just talking about the fact that it's also Ollie's Bargain Night.
Before O's fans get to the ballpark to collect their T-shirt giveaway Tuesday night, First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama will visit the Yard to announce a new joint initiative between Major League Baseball, the MLB Player's Association, and the White House.
Following the announcement, Orioles and Rays players will conduct...

Though many of you know the drill, if you're joining us for the first time, the 'Where in the Yard?' photo contest goes something like this:

If you're thinking it feels like a long time since the O's have brought fans of Birdland together at the Yard, you're not the only one. The Birds embarked on a ten-game road trip following the completion of a nine-game homestand against the Marlins, Nats, and A's that ended on July 1.
With the All-Star break upon us, it'll be a few more days before we're back at the Yard for Orioles baseball, but we make sure to visit Oriole Park here in the Orioles Buzz every Monday morning with the...
Have you seen the new Orioles team page on MASNsports.com?
O's and Nats team pages have been in the works since our redesign brought forth a new look on MASNsports.com near the start of the 2010 baseball season, and they've arrived in style.
If you click on the Orioles tab (or the "Orioles Section" from the dropdown menu that appears when you scroll over the O's tab), you'll find our whole range of O's coverage all in one place.

Though Brooks Robinson Jersey night isn't scheduled until Saturday, July 17, there's been a change to the previously scheduled promo night at Camden Yards that's worth noting ahead of time.
The Orioles PR department has announced that a vendor error will delay the arrival of the replica Brooks Robinson jerseys promised on the promotions schedule on July 17.
But rather than simply giving fans a raincheck, the O's will compensate the inconvenience to fans by giving away Brooks Robinson...
A few weeks ago, O's fans were wondering if Brian's Baseball Bash was still on for the summer of 2010. I assured you here in the Orioles Buzz that the Bash was still happening, but now I can even do you one better.
The floor is now open for sponsorship opportunities and individual ticket sales for this year's Brian's Baseball Bash.
Just as a refresher, this year's Bash is scheduled for Sunday, August 22 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Dave & Buster's at the Arundel Mills Mall.
Happy Fourth of July weekend O's fans! Hope you all had a great Fourth, as the O's finished up in Boston and head to Detroit for a three-game set against the Tigers.
You know the drill: Take a look at the photo below and let me know what the item is and where it's located in or around Camden Yards.
We'll continue to keep track of your points and announce another winner at the end of July, so don't forget to be the first one here in the Orioles Buzz each week to guess the 'Where in the...
Following the O's 1970 World Series 40th Anniversary game, all members of the Orioles and Nationals autographed the jerseys and hats they wore during that game, with Orioles players also signing their game-used batting helmets as well.
Those items were then put up for auction on Orioles.com for O's and Nats fans to bid on and take home - but the auction ends soon, at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 5.
Also look for jerseys worn by the members of the 1970 World Series championship team who...
Before we jump into Fourth of July weekend, we have to celebrate another 'Where in the Yard?' winner here in the O's Buzz.
During the month of June, this O's fan identified every image correctly and collected a handful of bonus points by providing extra O's trivia facts and being the first fan to guess correctly come a Monday morning or two.
Congrats to Scotty B for winning June's round of 'Where in the Yard?' here in the Orioles Buzz.
Scotty's victory makes for four different...
They're old and retired, but barely a few days old. You've probably seen them at the Yard and wondered if they're here to stay.
They're the retired number discs dotting the upper deck in left field at Camden Yards.
As part of a series of ongoing upgrades and enhancements to Oriole Park, the Orioles have fixed all six retired Orioles numbers, as well as a blue and white 42 for Jackie Robinson, to permanent perches in the seating bowl.
The retired number statues peppering Edward...
The schedule has teased the 40th anniversary celebration of the 1970 World Series Championship team for months, but the Orioles announced the details of that celebration today, letting you know just what you have to look forward to.
The celebration will take place this Saturday, June 26, prior to and during the O's 4:05 p.m. game against the neighboring Washington Nationals. Gates will open at 2:30 p.m.
You'll want to get to the park early, as the O's will hold an Alumni Press Conference...
On another Monday off day for the O's, we take a closer look at another piece of the Yard before the Birds finish up their nine-game homestand and fly north to Boston for the weekend.
This week, you'll see a familiar image, but with the text that would have given the picture's identity away removed and/or blurred out of the photo. But as usual, take a look at the photo below and let me know what the item is and where it's located in or around Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
As the O's enjoy an off day before the start of a nine-game homestand against Florida, Washington, and Oakland, we meet again for another 'Where in the Yard?' photo contest here in the Orioles Buzz.
Take a look at the photo below and tell us what the item is and where it's located in or around Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Stumped? Ask for a hint or head to the Yard Tuesday night to search for the item in person. Don't forget, there are bonus points for being the first O's fan to guess...
