Which fan among you will be the first to rip the Orioles for letting David Pauley get away?
I want this guy in my rotation. He could have owned this town - or at least this ballpark.
The Orioles could have renamed the flagcourt "Pauley Pavilion." They could have sold "Pauley's Walnuts" instead of peanuts. You could have visited the Cracker Concession. If you were a senior citizen, you could have entered the ballpark for free on the nights he pitched. A Pauleygrip campaign, perhaps.
Pauley is back on the mound for the bottom of the seventh, his pitch count at 94 and his lead at 5-2. Adam Jones came to the plate as the tying run with two outs in the sixth and grounded to short.
Pauley retired 13 in a row before Brian Roberts' leadoff double. Luke Scott walked with two outs after swinging from the heels at 3-0.
I thought the Orioles caught a break when they missed King Felix, but Seattle starters routinely dominate this team. Only the names change.
Jeremy Guthrie has thrown 93 pitches through seven. One of the five runs against him is unearned.
Instant update: Pauley didn't record an out in the seventh. Felix Pie singled and Matt Wieters hit his 10th home run.
Seattle 5, Orioles 4.
