Orioles select pitcher in Rule 5 Draft

The Orioles today selected RHP Adrian Rosario from the Milwaukee Brewers organization in the Major League phase of the Rule 5 draft. With the selection, the Orioles now have 34 players on their major league roster. Rosario, 21, spent most of 2010 pitching for Class-A Wisconsin, where he was 4-0 with two saves and a 4.50 ERA (32.0IP, 16ER) in 14 games. He also appeared in five games for Rookie-level Helena, where he was 1-0 with one save and a 1.26 ERA (14.1IP, 2ER). In the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 Draft, the Orioles selected INF Dale Mollenhauser from the Chicago White Sox organization. Mollenhauser, 24, batted .262 (90-343) with one homer, 27 RBI and 17 stolen bases for Double-A Birmingham in 2010. In the second round of the Triple-A phase, the Orioles selected LHP Casey Lambert from the Chicago Cubs organization. Lambert appeared in five games for Rookie-level Arizona and 14 games for class-A Daytona and combined to go 2-0 with a 3.60 ERA (30.0IP, 12ER). In the Double-A phase of the draft, the Orioles selected RHP Jacob Rasner from the Chicago White Sox organization. Rasner split 2010 between Class-A Winston-Salem and Double-A Birmingham and combined to go 2-8 with a 5.28 ERA (93.2IP, 55ER) in 34 games (10 starts). The Orioles lost four players in the draft. RHP Pat Egan was selected in the first round of the major league draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. In the second round of the major league phase of the draft, the New York Mets selected RHP Pedro Beato. In the Double-A phase, the San Francisco Giants selected CA Dashenko Ricardo and the Florida Marlins selected RHP Brent Allar.
