Patton coming here, no move made so far (updated)

An Orioles official confirmed that left-hander Troy Patton will be added to the 25-man roster if the Orioles use the disabled list today. However, we might not have a game tonight because of the rain, which could keep Patton from being officially recalled from Triple-A Norfok. The Orioles would lose a bench player if shortstop J.J. Hardy goes on the disabled list with tightness in his left ribcage area. They need the extra arm in the bullpen because Josh Rupe and Jeremy Accardo aren't available. A rainout would necessitate a doubleheader tomorrow, but Rupe and Accardo most likely would be able to pitch. Rupe was used Wednesday. Accardo threw 35 pitches in 1 2/3 innings last night. Manager Buck Showalter would have to determine whether he still needed another reliever for the doubleheader. Patton had three stints with the Orioles last season, but appeared in only one game. He's more of an insurance guy who shows up just in case he's needed. He's on the 40-man roster. The Orioles have one spot open on the 40, but they might need it for Chris Jakubauskas if the right-hander's contract is purchased over the weekend. Speaking of pitching, Texas starters are 5-0 with a 2.63 ERA. The rotation would be 6-0, but the bullpen lost a lead for left-hander C.J. Wilson in the opener. Update: Jeremy Guthrie just tweeted the following: "Just finished 40 pitch bullpen inside. My stamina was good & I threw all of my pitches. Next step is to see how I feel tomorrow."
